Monitoring helps show whether high humidity is a brief weather response or a pattern. If moisture stays elevated, the next step is figuring out whether the source is normal indoor moisture, equipment performance, outside air or water intrusion.
Fix water sources first
A dehumidifier can manage moisture in the air. It cannot repair a plumbing leak, roof leak, drainage problem or wet building material.
Consider whole-home dehumidification when it fits
If the home remains humid despite normal cooling and basic moisture control, integrated dehumidification may be worth discussing.
